Frequently asked questions

Quick answers on ordering, titling, fitment, how we build, installation, and living with the camper. Not seeing yours? Reach out directly.

Ordering & payment

How do I place an order?

Add a camper to your cart and check out through the site. After your order is placed, our team reaches out to collect your vehicle information, confirm your build, and send the Vehicle and Order Specification Form. Production does not begin until that form is signed. See the full after-order process.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. Financing is available at checkout through Shop Pay, subject to approval, including 0% APR plans for qualified buyers. Select Shop Pay Installments during checkout to see what you qualify for.

You can also bring your own financing. We recommend unsecured lenders like LightStream or your local credit union, and we offer a 4% discount on orders paid by ACH bank transfer. See all financing options.

Can I finance it through an RV lender?

It depends on the lender. RV lenders set their own requirements, and some will want the unit titled before they will write a loan against it. Many buyers find an unsecured personal loan simpler for a camper at this price point. See our financing page, or ask us and we will tell you what other buyers have used.

Can I place a deposit instead of paying in full?

We no longer offer deposits for campers due to demand.

Can I cancel or return my order?

Once your Vehicle and Order Specification Form is signed, cancellations and returns are not accepted. That form confirms your vehicle dimensions, build configuration, accessories, and order policies, and it is what triggers production. Review everything carefully before signing. Full details are in our refund policy.

Is the price I see the final price?

For a camper picked up at our shop, yes. Installation is included, and so is everything we do to the camper here: assembly, sealing, hardware upgrades, and final electrical work. Freight is the one variable, calculated at checkout from your ZIP code if you want it shipped instead. Sales tax applies per your state.

How is sales tax handled if I am out of state?

If you pick up or have the camper installed in Monroe, we are required to charge Washington sales tax, currently around 9.3%, regardless of where you live. If we ship the camper to you, we do not currently charge sales tax. Your own state may still expect use tax on the purchase, so check locally.

Do you offer a dealer or reseller program?

Yes. If you run a shop and want to carry or install our campers, get in touch and we will walk you through it.

Titling, registration & insurance

Does the camper come with a VIN or a title?

Not a title. Every camper ships with an MSO, the Manufacturer's Statement of Origin, which is the document your state needs if you choose to title it. Take the MSO to your state licensing office and they handle the rest.

Do I need to register it with my state?

That depends entirely on your state. Rules for truck campers vary widely, and some states treat them as cargo rather than as a registered vehicle. Check with your own licensing office before assuming either way. We provide the MSO so you have what you need if registration is required or if you simply want it titled.

Is it RVIA certified? What about NFPA 1192?

Not RVIA certified. That certification is expensive enough to be out of reach for a manufacturer our size, and we would rather put the money into the camper. We build to NFPA 1192 standards, which is the same recreational vehicle safety standard that certification is based on.

Worth knowing before you order, because a handful of lenders, insurers, and RV parks do ask for the RVIA seal specifically.

Will my insurance cover it?

Usually the camper needs to be titled first, which is what the MSO is for. Once titled, most carriers can add it. Some will instead cover it as an attachment or contents on your existing truck policy. Talk to your agent before delivery so there are no surprises, since the answer varies by carrier and by state.

Lead times & production

What is the current lead time?

These are estimates and move with supply chain and shipping conditions. View the full lead time breakdown.

When does production actually start?

Production begins only after your Vehicle and Order Specification Form is completed and signed. Until then your build slot is not finalized, so returning it promptly starts your lead time clock sooner.

Why do lead times move?

Ocean freight is the main variable. A container can sit for a customs exam, a vessel can be delayed, or a sailing can be missed entirely, and none of that is visible from our end until it happens. We would rather quote a range we can hit than a date we cannot. If your shipment slips, you hear it from us rather than discovering it on a tracking page.

Do you stock campers ready to ship?

Occasionally. Since every camper is fitted to a specific vehicle it does not make sense to hold large inventory, but we keep a small number of common configurations on hand. Check the in-stock page for current availability.

How we build them

Where are the campers manufactured?

Major fabrication happens at our dedicated facility in China. Every unit then comes to our headquarters in Monroe, WA, where the Frontier and Summit are assembled from panels and the Apex is finished, upfit, and signed off before it goes to a customer. We say that plainly rather than burying it. See the full manufacturing process.

Is this just a rebadged Chinese camper?

Ours will look familiar next to other aluminum campers, because aluminum campers share a shape. What differs is underneath: our own design revisions, our hardware choices, our sealing standard, and dozens of small tweaks per unit that we make here before we install or ship. The shell is manufactured to our spec. The camper is finished by us.

What do you actually do to the camper in Monroe?

On the Frontier and Summit, close to everything. Panels arrive powder-coated and flat, and we handle panel assembly, structural welding and gusseting, every nut and bolt, the fan, solar, wiring, accessory mounting, weatherstripping, and sealing.

The Apex arrives as a welded shell with furniture, main wiring, plumbing, heat, and solar already in place. We finalize and test the electrical end-points and install the premium components: Eberspacher heating, Dometic appliances, Renogy power gear, breakers, fuses, and the battery. Then structural inspection, sealing, water test, and torque verification.

At your price, why not just buy American made?

Compare carefully. Many companies advertising domestic manufacturing source almost every raw and batch-produced component overseas, then assemble here, which is close to what we do, minus the honesty about it. If their price is comparable to ours, that is worth thinking about.

What is not in question: your purchase supports a US business and the people working in our shop. We build, assemble, and back these campers in Washington.

Why not import one myself and save the money?

You can, and some people should. What you take on is the whole chain: no warranty, no returns, no damage claim, customs risk on an under-declared shipment, sourcing parts overseas, and assembly on your own including the welding. Shipping damage and quality control issues do happen, and on a direct import the unit in your driveway is the end of the conversation.

We absorb all of that, repair every unit before it goes out, and back it with a US warranty. If none of that is worth anything to you, we mean it: go buy the import. See the full side-by-side.

Why are the Frontier and Summit bolted together instead of welded?

By choice. Damage a panel on a fully welded canopy and you replace the entire structure. Bolted panels mean the damaged panel comes off and a new one goes on.

Weatherstripping between each panel also lets the canopy flex slightly under load. A fully rigid welded box has nowhere to put that stress, so over time it finds a weld or a corner to crack. We are fabricators and welders by trade, and this is the way we would want to repair it.

Do you do your own design work?

Yes. Fitment is worked out in CAD against a 3D scan of the actual vehicle, not a tape measure and a guess. The same process drives every upgrade we release, including exterior MOLLE panels, mounting standardization, and revised hardware. Our dimension drawings are published so you can check them against your own rig.

Fitment & compatibility

Will a camper fit my truck?

Every camper is built to fit your specific truck. We do not use universal sizing. After you order we confirm your VIN and may request physical measurements. If your truck is already in our fitment database, measurements may not be needed. Contact us to confirm compatibility before ordering.

What trucks are supported?

Both mid-size and full-size trucks. If yours has a standard bed there is a very good chance we can fit it. Send us your year, make, model, and bed length and we will confirm right away.

What measurements will you need from me?

It depends on the model. Diagrams are on the vehicle measurements guide.

What happens if it does not fit?

That is exactly what the measurement step prevents, and it is why we ask for the numbers and photos before production. We have seen directly imported campers arrive too wide to drop into the bed they were sold for, with no recourse for the owner. If something is off on one of ours, it is ours to fix.

Do I need to remove my tonneau cover, bed liner, or bed rails?

A bed liner is fine and OEM bed rails are fine. Aftermarket bed rails and tonneau covers have to come off, since both interfere with how the camper sits and clamps to the bed.

Will it work with a headache rack or a roof rack on my truck?

Often, yes. Because we control the design and the dimensions, we can build the cabover higher to clear a roof rack if you tell us before production. Be aware that a taller cabover means more frontal area, so it can cost you some fuel economy.

Will it block my backup camera or parking sensors?

No.

Can I still use my tailgate?

Yes.

Will it work on a flatbed, or on a truck that already has a bed cap?

Flatbed, yes. We can design for one, so tell us at the start. A bed cap is a no: the camper replaces it rather than mounting over it.

Do I need airbags, heavier springs, or a suspension upgrade?

It depends heavily on your truck, the model you choose, and how you plan to travel. A Frontier on a half-ton is a different conversation from an Apex on a mid-size. We recommend talking it through with our partner Allied Motorsport, who handle suspension, airbags, and full builds and know our campers well. Our weight calculator is a good starting point for that conversation.

Will the camper affect my payload or towing capacity?

Any load in your bed affects payload. The Frontier is roughly 330 lbs, the Summit 480 to 570 lbs depending on bed length, and the Apex 1,000 to 1,800 lbs depending on bed size and options. Check your payload capacity before ordering, particularly for the Apex. The sticker is on the inside of the driver door jamb, and our weight calculator will do the math with your options selected.

I am buying a new truck. Can I move my camper over?

Often, yes, and it is a reason the design is modular. Frontier and Summit pop-up tent dimensions are standardized, so if the new bed is a different size we can replace the canopy panels and you keep the tent. The Apex is more vehicle-specific, though it can be built for compatibility with more than one truck if you tell us up front.

Installation & delivery

Is installation included?

Yes, installation is included with every camper and performed at our shop in Monroe, WA. We prefer local pickup and installation because it lets us confirm the fit and walk you through the camper in person before you drive away.

Who does the install?

Installs are handled by Allied Motorsport, a family-owned 4x4 shop in Snohomish, WA with over 40 years of combined experience, and our official installer and showroom. They are also the team to talk to about lift kits, suspension, armor, and full custom builds if you want to outfit your rig beyond the camper.

Can you ship a camper to me instead?

Yes, anywhere in the contiguous US. Freight is calculated at checkout from your ZIP code and camper model. How the camper arrives differs by model, and the Frontier and Summit have a disassembled option that ships free. See shipping and delivery.

Do you ship to Alaska or Canada?

We can. Both are handled case by case rather than quoted at checkout, so reach out and we will work out freight and paperwork with you.

Can I install or assemble it myself?

Yes, and we document it. The Frontier and Summit have full assembly instructions, and the Apex has an installation guide plus video walkthroughs for the awning, water, shore power, heaters, battery compartment, and control panels. Plan on a second set of hands and, for the Apex, jacks or a lift.

Where can I view a camper in person?

We keep demo units at our shop in Monroe, WA, and Allied Motorsport in Snohomish is our showroom. Schedule a visit in advance so we can make sure someone is free to walk you through everything. Schedule a viewing.

Can I rent one, or take a demo overnight?

We do not rent or loan units. What we can do is put you in touch with our ambassadors, who own these campers and are happy to show you their build in person or talk through their experience on the phone. That tends to be more useful than a single night out anyway. Ask us to connect you.

What comes included with my purchase?
  • Professional installation onto your truck at our Monroe shop
  • Custom-fitted bed clamps on the Frontier and Summit
  • Mechanical camper jacks on the Apex
  • Camper seals for a weather-tight fit
  • Keys for all lockable hatches and doors
  • An MSO document for titling, if you choose to title it

The campers

Which model is right for me?

Start with how you travel. A wedge pop-up keeps weight and height down and sets up in about a minute. A slide-in gives you a standing interior, kitchen, heat, water, and a bathroom option, at several times the weight. We wrote guides for both decisions rather than pushing everyone to the biggest unit.

What is the difference between the Frontier and Summit?

Both are aluminum pop-ups with the same construction quality and lead time. The difference is width and pop-up style. The Summit uses a wide-body design and a full-length pop-up tent, which adds real interior space and a larger sleeping platform, better for couples or families. The Frontier is the lighter wedge at roughly 330 lbs, better for solo travelers or anyone prioritizing minimal impact on the truck. See the full comparison.

Can I leave bedding in the pop-up when it is closed?

Yes, and it is one of the real advantages of a canvas pop-up over a hard-wall camper. You can leave roughly 3 to 4 inches of bedding up top on any of our campers: sheets, pillows, a sleeping bag or blankets, all left made up between trips.

It sounds like a small thing until you have set up camp in the rain. Nothing to haul up, nothing to make, just pop the top and get in. More on canvas versus hard-wall.

Are the mattresses comfortable?

Honest answer: it depends on you. The stock foam suits plenty of people fine. If you sleep on your side, or you are heavier and tend to sink through thinner foam, you will probably want more under you. That is a common upgrade rather than a complaint about the camper, and there is room to do it.

Can I upgrade the mattress?

Yes, and several owners do. The usual routes:

  • A premium sleep system such as a Hest, laid on top
  • Supplemental foam or a memory foam topper
  • A second mattress from us, doubled up on the stock one

The limit is what still lets the top close. Plan on about 3 to 4 inches of total mattress with the pop-up closed, depending on foam density, since a denser foam compresses less. Softer foam gives you a little more room to work with. If you are unsure, ask us before you buy a topper.

Can I add camper jacks to my Frontier or Summit later?

Yes. We now pre-install the jack mounting plates on all campers, so you can buy the jacks separely later if you wish.

What type of glass do you use?

All windows use tempered glass. It is significantly stronger than standard glass and, if broken, shatters into small blunt pieces rather than sharp shards, which is the right behavior for off-road use.

Can I customize my camper?

Yes. The product pages show ready-to-order configurations, but we can add or remove items, adjust the build, or quote something fully custom. The Apex in particular is deeply configurable: interior layouts, refrigeration, storage, finishes, and bathroom options. Reach out to discuss your build.

What are the bathroom options on the Apex?

There are three paths, and they interact with the rest of the layout, so it is worth deciding early. The fold-out wet bath gives you an enclosed shower and toilet space. A cassette toilet on its own is the lighter, simpler option. The Dometic CTW 4110 is available as a factory option and requires the wet bath. Some combinations are limited on shorter beds, so talk it through with us before ordering.

How does the Apex handle winter?

It is built for it. Eberspacher diesel air and water heating, insulated construction, and a hard-wall shell rather than canvas. For snow country, note the roof is rated to about 400 lbs, so clear accumulated snow before raising the roof, and consider the electric lift if you camp where it snows regularly.

How much can I carry on the roof rack?

175 lbs maximum on any model. That is the limit whether you are parked or driving, and it is worth remembering that anything up there sits high and affects both handling and the effort of raising a pop-up.

What accessories do you use?

Our own. Awnings, shower tents, solar panels, and roof racks are all Cascadia Overland Co. products. That lets us control quality and make sure everything is designed to work with our campers rather than piecing together third-party parts.

On the road

How much height does it add? Will it fit in my garage?

It depends on the model and how it is configured, and on how tall your truck already sits. Send us your truck and the build you are considering and we will give you the specific number before you order. Measure your garage opening rather than trusting the listed door height, since trim and openers eat into it.

What does it do to fuel economy?

On the Frontier and Summit, most owners see no meaningful difference. Worst case is roughly half a mile per gallon to one, depending on the truck and how you drive it. A taller cabover built to clear a roof rack will cost a little more.

Is it fine at highway speed and in crosswinds?

Yes. The camper clamps to the bed and is built for highway travel and rough roads alike.

Can I take it through an automatic car wash?

Not recommended. Brushes and high-pressure jets are hard on seals, latches, and canvas, and the height alone is a problem in most tunnels. Wash it by hand.

Living with it & care

How do I care for the tent canvas?

The canvas is bonded, so there is no re-treating or seam sealing to keep up with. There is one rule that matters:

Do not skip this

Never close the pop-up with wet canvas. Always let it dry fully before packing it down. Closing it wet is what causes mildew over time, and mildew is not a warranty issue.

If you have to pack up wet to get moving, open it again and dry it out as soon as you can, even in a garage or driveway.

What do I do about condensation?

Condensation is a fact of sleeping in a small insulated space, not a defect. Two people breathing overnight put a surprising amount of moisture in the air. Airflow is the fix: crack a window or vent, and if it is something you care about, add a roof fan. It makes more difference than anything else you can do.

Can I leave the camper on the truck year round?

Absolutely. Plenty of owners never take theirs off.

How should I store it when it is off the truck?

It does not need to be indoors. If you plan to take the camper on and off, camper jacks are the thing to have: they let you lift it off, park the truck out from under it, and set it down on its own legs. Store it closed and dry, and cover it if you want to keep it clean between trips.

How do I wash it?

Normal car wash supplies are fine: car soap, a wash mitt, a hose. Avoid solvents entirely. No acetone, no lacquer thinner, no aggressive degreasers, since those attack the powder coat and the seals. Rinse the dust out of the seals and latch areas after a dirty trip and it will keep working the way it should.

Warranty, parts & support

What does the warranty cover?

A 24-month limited warranty against defects in materials or workmanship, starting from the date of purchase or delivery. Coverage includes manufacturing defects, faulty workmanship, component or hardware failures, and issues related to fit or assembly.

  • Normal wear and tear is not covered
  • Damage from accidents, abuse, or improper use is not covered
  • Unauthorized modifications may void coverage

View the full warranty policy.

Who actually honors the warranty?

We do, from Monroe. No overseas claim process, no call center, and no middleman. The team that signed off on your camper is the team that fixes it, and there is one phone number for warranty, service, and support.

How do I submit a warranty claim?

Email team@cascadiaoverland.com with clear photos or video documenting the issue. Our team reviews and responds promptly. If it is covered, we coordinate repair or replacement, and parts ship from our warehouse when available.

Can I still get parts in five years?

That is the reason for the modular design. Panels, latches, hinges, struts, weatherstripping, and canvas are all individually replaceable, and we stock components here rather than ordering them per claim. A damaged panel is a panel, not a new camper. Torn canvas zips off and a replacement zips on.

Do you repair campers you did not build?

Often, yes. We do structural repairs, custom mounts, one-off metalwork, and camper electrical build-outs in our own shop. Send us photos and what you are trying to solve and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth repairing.

Do you have an ambassador program?

We do, for people actually using these campers and documenting it. See the ambassador program.
